Reasons Why Failure is Important for SuccessPosted by Dennis Kemp on August 6th, 2019 One of the most unfortunate realities of our society today is that failure is perceived as a bad thing. There’s a certain stigma attached to failure and failures. This perception has given birth to the fear of failure in most of us. This fear of failure is what ultimately leads to people not taking risks and subsequently, not living life. The road to success isn’t as straight-forward as mainstream media would have you believe. There are ups and downs on the way to success. Even nature supports this theory. Just think about the lifecycle of a butterfly. No butterfly can turn out to be a beautiful creature without being an ugly caterpillar. Similarly, the graceful adult Swans were once an ugly duckling. It is the order of our world that no success can ever be achieved without failing multiple, or at least one, time. It doesn’t matter what one wants to be successful in, the world’s greatest professional essay writers failed multiple times. Thomas Edison failed 10,000 times before he was finally able to create electricity, the foundation behind what powers our entire world today. All through life, we’ve been taught of failure and success being complete opposites of each other. However, in reality, they supplement each other. It may sound counter-intuitive, but there’s truth behind it. Here are some reasons why failure ultimately sets one up for eventual success. Helps in Reaching PotentialJust like lightning never strikes in the same place twice, no one likes to fail by doing the same thing repeatedly. When one fails in achieving something, they’ll do better next time by trying an alternate strategy. Failing once actually provides the courage, and the will not to fail again. This cycle eventually forces us to reach our highest potential. We challenge ourselves to overcome our failures and break down self-limiting barriers. Gives a Fearless HeartThe fear of failure is real and an omnipresent limiting force in our lives. Also, what’s the best way of overcoming the fear of anything? It’s by directly facing it. Facing our fear of failure and dismantling it makes us fearless. It opens our eyes to the fact that failing is not the end of the world. Co-incidentally, failing in something also reveals the truth about those around us. It helps us discover what we really want. It forces us to widen our mental horizons and realise the beauty of the world around us. Ironically, it is by failing itself that we learn to stop being afraid of failing. Breeds PositivityMost of the negativity in our world arises from the fear of failing. This fear stops us from exploring new avenues and forces us to live within our comfort zone. When one does eventually take a risk and fail, it shows that it’s not the end of the world. Though it may not seem like it, failure ultimately makes us aware of the positive aspects of life. Slowly, as the underlying cause of negativity, fear of failure, disappears, positivity starts to take root. This positivity is what makes us happy and content human beings. Opens Up OpportunitiesThere’s a famous saying by the greatest entrepreneur the world has ever known, Henry Ford. He said, “Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.” There are countless examples of successful people who preach about the power of failure. Failure is not the end of the road. When we fail at something, we gather the courage to give it a go again, only through a different course of action now. Failing reveals flaws we may not be aware of and helps fix them. By trying to achieve something incessantly through various strategies, we open up new opportunities for ourselves, opportunities that we would have never known existed. It Makes Success InterestingIn today’s age of instant gratification, we falsely believe that getting something quickly and without effort is actually what breeds happiness. However, the reality couldn’t be more far off. Nothing in life can ever be valued much if there wasn’t some level of patience behind achieving it. Failing at something, and to realise it, makes the eventual success a lot more interesting. It increases our self-confidence, self-esteem and personal courage. It makes us a role model for others and makes a lot more interesting to be around. Here’s a perfect quote by Thomas A. Edison to close off this post: “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Like it? Share it!More by this author |
