TOP 5 TIPS FOR FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY

Posted by Dreamarium on August 10th, 2019

Fashion photography is everywhere you go, and it looks so effortless it can be difficult to appreciate the effort that goes into making it a reality. That’s why we’ve put together this list of the top 5 tips for anybody who wants to do fashion photography.

1.CHOICE OF LENS
Its london escort photographer, so if we don’t get the lens right, nothing else will fall into place. In choosing the right lens, make sure to consider factors like the focal length. This determines how close or how far you have to get to a subject to take a shoot. Some lenses have a fixed focal length, so you can adjust them to fit the distance you want from the subject. Some others have a fixed or prime focal length. They are usually more affordable with great quality, but they are less versatile.

2.OBEY THE LIGHTING RULES
When shooting in a place of low light or in the open sunlight, an extra light source may be needed. If you can’t get an extra source of lighting and have to make do with a flash, you can set the light it reflects to bounce of a nearby reflector, wall or ceiling. You can work with different angles to see which achieves the desired effect for you and the scene where you’re shooting. But while you’re at it, be on the lookout for unwanted shadows that might fall on your subject’s face and body.

3.BUILD RELATIONSHIPS
This rule applies even in fashion photography and how you handle the poses of your model. It’s never a good idea to rush into a subject when they’re not yet comfortable with the entire set, especially if you’re not working with a pro. Before getting started with the shoot, you should give some time to talk to the model. That initial rapport will go a long way in earning their trust for when the shoot starts. They are more willing to go along with your suggestions and thoughts as the day goes by.

4.LEARN WHAT WORKS FOR YOU
Every fashion photographer has a unique style, and the sooner you develop yours and carve a niche there, the better. Using your approach, you can take advantage or modify the setup of your studio to achieve your signature look. For some fashion photographers like Kitty Gallannaugh, who was on the ExpertPhotography Top 20 Young Photographers 2012 rankings, there’s no compromising natural light. That’s just what feels right for them. If you’re this kind of person, working in studios with artificial lighting will not just sit right with you.

5.DEVELOP A WORKFLOW THAT MAKES EDITING EASIER
You’ve taken the amazing pictures, but that isn’t even half the work. The process and ease of your editing process will go a long way in determining whether or not your efforts so far will be worthwhile or go to waste. The editing process encompasses everything from downloading the images to the final, presentable copies of the pictures, in digital or hard copy. Usually, it flows like this: Download – Import – Edit – Re-edit – Re-touch – Export – Deliver to client – Add to portfolio. The Import Stage is usually where you add the keywords, metadata, add the pictures to pre-existing collections and add presets.

If you’re looking for a studio that combines the competence in all of this, the right lens for the right purpose, understanding of how to use lighting to get the best results that you deserve, relationship management, a niche understanding of fashion photography and efficient service delivery, then look no further than Dreamarium Photography
