Applying to William Esper Studio is the first step in your journey of world-renowned actor training to becoming an actor. As you get ready to embark, you may have some questions. How do I apply to William Esper Studio?

First read William Esper’s book, The Actor’s Art and Craft. If the book resonates for you, then it’s likely the training, based in the Meisner Technique, will as well. Then visit our web site to complete the online application. Upon receiving your application, our administrative team will reach out to schedule an interview. We ask that you read The Actor’s Art and Craft
before
applying so that the interview can focus on you and your artistic goals. A few things to note:

  • You do not necessarily need any previous acting experience in order to train at William Esper Studio. Our student body is comprised of actors with a full range of backgrounds and training. We do, however, require a commitment to the work and dedication to the craft.
  • Regardless of previous experience, we ask all actors to begin with the first-year work. Even if you have trained in Meisner-based technique elsewhere, the training at William Esper Studio is created specifically on William Esper’s work with Sanford Meisner and meant to be taken in over the two-year period.

What are my options for studying at William Esper Studio?

There are several programs in place at The Studio designed to meet the needs of all of our students. We have two main offerings at The Studio: the Six-Week Summer Acting Intensive and the Two-Year Professional Actor Training Program. Within these two programs students will find flexibility to create a program that suits them best.

  • The Six-Week Summer Acting Intensive begins mid-June and runs through approximately the end of July. The Two-Year Professional Actor Training Program has two start dates, one in mid-September and one in early January. The second year of training is by invitation and runs from mid-September to early June for all students.
  • There are classes offered during the day, at night and on the weekends to accommodate a variety of schedules and outside commitments.
  • Students must be enrolled in at least Acting Technique, it is the foundation of the training at William Esper Studio. Once enrolled in Acting Technique, or having completed it, students and alumni may choose to supplement their schedule with a wide variety of additional classes.
  • By enrolling in the Two-Year Professional Actor Training Program, students are committing to the full two years of study. This amount of time is designed to specifically set students on the path of mastery of the craft of acting.

What are the tuition costs?

The Studio strives to keep its fees as low as possible considering our world-renowned faculty and level of training. A few other details to note:

  • The Six-Week Summer Intensive is Payable in two installments for all students. You can see more details on our Website.
  • For the Two-Year Professional Actor Training Program, Part-Time students pay a total of eight monthly installments and Core and Full-Time students pay three installments. Additional application and tuition information is available online.

What happens when I graduate?

You will have just completed one of the most rigorous and well-known actor training programs in the world – Congratulations! William Esper Studio prepares you for a professional career in acting with the tools you’ll need as you continue to fine-tune your craft.

  • During your second year of training, you will have the option to take part in classes specifically designed to help you begin your career: Audition Technique Class, Monologue Class, Cold Reading Technique and Acting On-Camera for Film and Television.
  • Once you graduate you will become part of William Esper Studio’s worldwide alumni network with access to classes via our exclusive EsperNEXT program. Classes in the EsperNEXT program include Scene Study as well as workshops with top Casting Directors and industry guests.
  • We encourage you to take advantage of this community to create your own work and continue training throughout your career.
