How is Hernia Treated?

A hernia can be treated through 2 types of procedures: Open Repair and Laparoscopic (Keyhole) Repair. In case of open surgery, one long cut is made and herniated organs are pushed back to the original position. The basic principle of laparoscopic repair is the same as an open procedure but in this small (3-4) cuts are made instead of one long incision. Laparoscopic repair has many benefits over open procedure such as quicker recovery time, lesser pain and lower infection rates.
