Step-by-step Guide to Singapore Student Visa

Here’s a step-by-step guide:

The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) introduced the on-line submission of Student's Pass applications via the SOLAR system for courses offered by the Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) in Singapore.

These IHLs include local polytechnics and universities, and, foreign universities with offshore campuses in Singapore.

A foreign national who wants to study in Singapore and has been accepted by an institution for a full-time course must apply for a student pass.

The documents required must be made ready before application for the student pass.

Documents required for Singapore Student Visa:

• Letter of Acknowledgement of registration from the school that you will be attending.
• Valid passport and Birth Certificate
• Recent passport-sized photographs
• Personal details, details of family, educational background etc.
• English language proficiency test scores (TOEFL/IELTS) or the Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter
• Financial documents
• Standardized test scores if required.

After the student accepts the offer for admission, he needs to apply for the Student’s Pass to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) of Singapore.

A payment of S is to be made online and post-processing, the ICA notifies the university of the outcome within 10 days.

If approved, the university sends a soft copy of the In-principle Approval (IPA) letter which serves as a single-journey entry visa.

Online application for student pass must be submitted at least four weeks before course begins.

It is necessary to show a proof of funds covering the education fee and the cost of living in Singapore.
