India’s West Indies 2019 Tour Looks Good for Away Team

India had a very good start on their West Indies Tour this year. This tour kept the momentum going for cricket fans all over the world after the recent events of this year’s Cricket World Cup. The finals match of the World Cup was held last July 14. Unfortunately, India was not one of the finalists to play. The World Cup victory was down to England and New Zealand. India was defeated by New Zealand in their World Cup semi-finals match.

India’s Tour of West Indies sets up a new beginning for the team. India and West Indies already played the matches for the tour’s T20 series. India dominated the tour’s T20 series easily. One of India’s newest players, Navdeep Saini, was even named Player of the Match.

Away Team India’s victory in the T20 series sets up a good start for the rest of the tour. West Indies and India are yet to play the ODI matches and Tests. The tour’s Test matches are significant in its own way. These Tests are part of the new ICC World Test Championship 2019-21.

The World Test Championship is also known to the cricket community as the ‘World Cup of Test Cricket’. India may have lost the Cricket World Cup this year but if the team performs well in their tour’s Test matches, they will have a good standing in the World Test Championship.

India cricket team captain Virat Kohli talked to Cricbuzz about India’s T20 series victory. “Winning is always going to be a priority. But sealing the series gives the chance to bring few guys in. The idea is always going to be to win first,” Kohli stated.

The rest of India’s tour and the ongoing Ashes 2019 series are some of the biggest events in cricket sports. These events are the highlights of international cricket news this August.
