SIHH 2019: IWC Pilot’s Automatic Spitfire Watch Replica Review

The IWC Pilot’s watches replica were always amazing tool watches. At some point, like many other brands, IWC decided to bring more variation to the game: enter the IWC Pilot’s Watch Automatic Spitfire replica.

It’s clearly the year of the Spitfire over in Schaffhausen, Presented by IWC at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH 2019) in Geneva, all the new Spitfire models replica in the Pilot’s Watches collection feature IWC-manufactured calibres. No view on the in-house movement, but a nicely engraved Spitfire. I think it would have been sufficient to keep the Spitfire on the case back and refrain from printing the name on the dial.

The case back also shows the fine quality of finishing and the differences between the surfaces. The 39mm case diameter and the modest size of the crown make it a comfortable watch on the wrist. The water resistant to 60 metres / 200 feet.

Caliber 32110 Movement

Both are powered by the robust and reliable IWC-manufactured calibre 32110, integrated into the IWC pilot's watches (IW326801/IW326802) replica for the first time. Its pawl-winding system winds up on both sides and boasts a power reserve of 72 hours. It beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vph). An inner cage made from soft iron protects the movement against magnetic fields. The Sellita sure isn’t a bad movement, but I dare to say I prefer an in-house IWC movement for this small difference. The IWC caliber 32110 has a power reserve of 72 hours over the 42 hours of the Sellita based caliber for example.

Conclusion
