I happened to be in Texas a while back in March when “Little Shop of Horror” played at Stages Repertory Theatre. The show features music by Alan Menken and book and lyrics by Howard Ashman. The musical first came to surface in 1982 and ran for five years. The musical did revive on Broadway in 2003 after the death of Ashman in 1991. Ashman never intended for it go that way and thus honoring his original plan, it will not be returning to Broadway. Instead, it is scheduled to debut off-Broadway like any other original production. The Pasadena Playhouse production, which begins performances at the West Coast venue in September.
