Broken Commute Lines - Perennial Troubles for Tribal Odisha

Heavy Rains and Odisha are best friends. Such insanity prevails that the months of July to October is like a marriage between the two. The amount of rainfall Odisha usually receives within this particular time period is absolutely bonkers.

As per Odisha Latest News, heavy rains are predicted for the state. The entirety of the state will be receiving an incredible amount of downpour. Even though the India Meteorological Department has other words to say like Odisha hasn’t received the amount of rainfall it should receive.

However, sudden and inconsistent showers are rocking the state. A Flood-like situation is seemingly imminent. A day or two’s rains and there is no stopping. The state government is trying its best to get people out of troubled areas.

The most affected areas are the places adjacent to the Hirakud Dam as well as the entire Mahanadi Delta. Apart from that, the tribal areas of Odisha, particularly the Southwestern Districts are in disarray.

The Vamsadhara, Nagavalli and Rushikulya Rivers might give a headache or two to both the state government as well as the public residing there. The main reason behind this writeup has everything to do with the incessant rains.

Especially, the consequences that people are facing because of the same. Now, there have been multiple cases of people suffering to reach the nearest hospital off late. At least a couple of women had trouble reaching the nearest medical assistance during their respective labour stages.

People had to carry them to the closest establishment with the help of a stretcher or a bed. Sometimes, while carrying the patients, they were unable to reach on time and gave birth to their babies midway.

Such a situation is extremely scary where the mother needs utmost attention in an environmentally-contained area devoid of illness-causing microbes and general unhygienic conditions.

Odisha latest news is that these particular villages and localities do not have a clear road to make the commute to the nearest establishment such as a hospital or a government office to get their things done.

Having no road to move from one place to another, especially during heavy rains and a possible flood-like situation is extremely scary. No one would want to be stranded in a death trap laid by mother nature.

Even evacuation will be near impossible if the roads are horrible or if bridges have vanished. We will have to see how the Odisha government tackles these hassles and provides easy movement measures to these people in this critical time. Urgent help is the need of the hour.
