Progressive Die And Stamping/Metal Fabrication Illinois

Most people today don’t have the slightest idea of what a progressive die to make stampings is. A progressive die is a tool that has several stations in it that take raw material and produces a formed part. Progressive dies are used for parts that are more complex then what can be produced in a single or even a compound blank die. A rough blank is formed at first, then holes may be added in the second station, the part may be trimmed in a third and fourth station before going on to a station where stamps may be applied. The final stations usually do a partial form before going onto the full forming station and then ejected from the press. The strips are held in place by pilot strips that have holes in them to locate the part the correct way.

No two progressive dies are the same. Each die is a custom tool to make a custom part. Some are very complicated indeed and others are simple. It all depends on the needs of the customer and how difficult it is to make a particular part. The more complicated the part, the more stations and therefore the more expensive the die maybe.

In the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, metal fabrication Illinois was commonplace. Every major city in the State of Illinois produced custom metal fabrications. Today most of the metal fabrication in Illinois has disappeared, moved to less expensive areas where materials and labor are lower.

Animated Manufacturing Company is one of the few facilities that still produce metal fabrication in Illinois. We have endured because of our quality and on time delivery, not to mention our attention to detail and customer service. We also provide the Progressive Tool And Die.
