If your friend or family in India, then you probably understand the requirement of knowing all about postal and parcel services. Before you look for Cheap Parcel Service to India, there are certain things that you need to know about.

Without the knowledge of what can you send to India and how to do so, your parcel may take longer than usual to get to India. Here is all that you need to know about sending a parcel to India:

  • What can you send?
    Each country has a list of prohibited and restricted products. Whenever you are sending things to India, there are certain rules to be kept in mind, which will help you avoid various delays.
    Prohibited: Ivory, pornographic and obscene content; and maps of the country where the boundaries are marked incorrectly.
    Restricted: Secondhand goods, used electronics and medicines (regardless of the quantity)
    Documents are exempt from taxes and duty.
  • What kind of foods can you send?
    As gifts, most of us love to send edible items. However, there are certain rules regarding the same as well. Here is what you need to keep in mind if you are sending food to India:

o   It should be the manufacturer’s packaging.

o   All the ingredients should be listed on the label.

o   It must be sealed.

o   Must have a shelf life of more than six months from the day it is to be shipped.

o   Food items below the shelf life of six months are labeled as perishables and cannot be sent.

When you are sending parcels to India, make sure that you check with the delivery company if they send it to the area that you intend to have it delivered. Some companies may not have remote delivery, and that may be a hindrance to your parcels to India.
