Spray dried powder is a technique that creates granulated powder by using solvent to make ceramic balls.  The application of a hot air stream aids in the production.  Aqueous slip is produced by combining water and an organic dispersant to create an extremely concentrated slurry which is subject to slip and pressure casting to make a high green density piece. Ceramic dough feedstock is produced by combining ceramic raw material mix with water or solvent and an organic binder and plasticizer to create a clay-like substance which is malleable under pressure.  

Ceramics are pressed in various methods.  Isocratic pressing, for example, occurs when a spray dried powder is set in a rubber or polyurethane sack which is then exposed to is static pressure.  Slip and pressure casting can be used to create products of small and medium shapes with a simple form such as tubes or ladles.  Other steps include extrusion, green machining, sintering, and diamond grinding.  Products also undergo firing and polishing to make a piece that is ready for its unique job. 

Finally, the products are inspected visually.  They also compared to the design schematic to ensure the size and shape are correct  It is of the utmost importance to inspect the piece for cracks or flaws that reveal a weakened integrity of the advanced ceramic piece.
