Most successful apps have one thing in common they all solve a problem or they provide something their users would find valuable .

Before you begin clearly identify what you’re trying to accomplish with your app and how you’re going to measure that.

Here are 5 reasons why Mobile Apps fail:

1.  Clear Strategy

Have a clear strategy with a step by step execution plan for each stage of app development lifecycle (Development,Execution,Deployment and Maintenance).

How much would the app cost and over what time period.Which platforms and devices is the app going to be built for Have a well defined marketing plan.

Marketing should begin even before the development of the app.

Do you have contingencies in place if any of your steps fail?

All this has to be taken into account before moving onto the next stage in the mobile app development process.

2. Poor Market Research

Understand your product’s target audience .

How do you know what to build for your user? Create user personas.

Personas are fictional characters created based on real data of your ideal customer.

It helps in understanding not just the demographic of people who will be using your app  but also their needs, expectations and their reason for using your app over other similar apps. This helps in ensuring that every decision you make benefits the user and is backed with real data

Know your market well. Understand the reason behind what works and what doesn’t.What features do successful apps have.Integrate some of those features and improve upon them.

Focus on what users want and you’ll be rewarded.

3. User Experience

It encompasses the entire experience the user takes to achieving their goal .

Users are more comfortable with simple ,consistent and elegant designs

Provide just enough information and make navigation as speedy and efficient as possible .App’s should mimic the look and feel of the operating system ,this intuitive design would help user’s adapt to the app faster.

Improve future iteration's of your app based on customer feedback and also add new features so your app doesn’t feel outdated .

4. Improper Testing

Apps must be tested thoroughly at each stage to ensure that the application is as bug-free and market ready as possible .

Slow performance ,crashes and bugs can lead to users abandoning the app.

5. Monetization

Apps do not fail for a lack of features ,they fail due to a lack of customer’s.

Completely premium apps do make money but they dont average a lot of downloads per day.

The ideal way to be to let users download the app for free and monetize within the app.It allows users to try some of the features before they buy it .

Have a business plan .Plan for contingencies. Prepare for obstacles.

You’ll greatly increase your chances of success .
