So, you’ve finally arrived at your new home, finished unpacking and got all of your belongings neatly placed. While everything looks great, the only unpleasing site is that gigantic pile of your moving boxes.

And if you’re living in a small NYC apartment, you probably can not think of extra storage.

Most of the people just recycle or give their boxes away - says many of the moving companies in Brooklyn NY

But, what if you can transform these into awesome useful items without spending money?

Yes, it's time for some DIY. Here are some fun ways to repurpose your moving boxes.

Make a Shoe Rack

Tired of tripping over your shoes in the apartment? If yes, then make a shoe rack from those cardboard boxes. Cut the box into rectangular pieces and then fold their outer pieces upside to form a triangle. Then tape it from there so that the cardboard retains its rectangular shape. You can attach multiple boxes to house all of your shoes.

Create a Scratching Board for Your Cat

If your beloved feline has worn out her old scratch board, it's the perfect time to reuse your boxes to create a new one for her. This requires cutting the boxes into long strips and then arrange them in a circular pattern. Further, glue the pieces together to ensure they hold. To make it look eye-catching, affix some wrapping paper or fabric to its outer edge.

How About Making a Planter?

If you have a green thumb, chances are high that you already have plants, and certainly you will have plans on getting more. And, while you have these boxes there is no need to spend money on a new planter. Just fit a garbage bag in the box and poke some holes in the cardboard as well as the bag for drainage. Fill it with soil and plants. For a more aesthetically pleasing look, you can paint the outside of the box. This might not be the best option for larger moving boxes, but you can cut them into smaller pieces and then tape or glue these pieces together to form smaller boxes.

Make Some Amazing Coasters

One doesn’t need to be super craftly to make amazing coasters. You just need scissors and  decorative tape. Cut out the cardboard into different shapes from star to circles to octagon. Just ensure that coasters must be large enough to actually protect your furniture.

Think of Wall Decoration

Why spend on decorations when you can do it yourself? Packing cardboard boxes are incredibly sturdy, which makes them incredibly versatile to be used in decorating the walls.

Here Are Some Ideas to Implement

Some inspirational words: Use large stencils to cut out the letters from the cardboard and color it as to pair with the color of your wall. Stick them to the wall using a double tape or a solid adhesive.

Different shapes: From stars to squares, go for anything that you would like to see on your wall. Don’t just start randomly, come with a vision for what you want in terms of shape, size, and color and then go from there.

Unique designs: Why not put up some unique cardboard decorations on your wall? It can be your kid’s favorite car or animal. There are endless opportunities in creating unique designs, the only limit is your imagination.

Lastly, if you don’t have time for all this, you can offer your boxes to another person who is moving as a token of charity or gift. You can use sites like Freecycle or U-Haul customer connect for this. Hopefully, these ideas have given you some inspiration to repurpose your moving boxes.
