Setting The Mood For The Perfect Halloween Alone

Halloween is famous for its parties, costumes and trick or treating. So much goes into the celebration of this morbidly fun holiday and when people get together, it can get really loud and hyped up, all in good fun of course but not everyone parties it up on Halloween. Some folks are a lot more laid back about celebrations in general. For those who are not really party animals or simply do not desire to attend the annual Halloween office party, there are ways to mark the event low-key and alone in the comfort of the home.

Things to do when spending Halloween night alone

Start the night off by handing out candy to children trick or treating. Whether one likes it or not, the kids will come knocking expecting to be given candy especially if one lives in suburban family districts. Although the plan is to have a quiet evening alone, be kind and gracious enough to put a smile on the faces of candy-loving children. Their joy is the perfect reward for all that knocking.

If the evening is still very young, watching a scary movie can be fun. Get some popcorn, turn the lights down low, curl up on the couch underneath a warm comforter and play a good slasher or horror movie all in the spirit of Halloween.

Another relaxing thing one can do is to take a long hot hydrating bath. The cold dry autumn month of October takes its toll on the body. A nice hot bath is the perfect way to unwind and just relax while the body soaks up all that moisture to replenish what the harsh dry weather has taken away.

Slipping into the most comfortable PJs or sweats is the best thing after that bath. Setting aside the constriction certain garments can create pyjamas, and sweats allow for free range of motion and are quite soft and gentle, perfect for a state of relaxation.

A warm fire is a nice way to set the tone for the night ahead. It envelopes the room in warmth and casts spooky shadows across the room. The light of the fire itself lends the room a mystical ambience and the crackling sound from burning wood and embers gives it a very relaxing and ethereal feel.

A piping hot cup of tea or hot chocolate at this point is most soothing and refreshing. The savoury taste and fragrance calms the senses and the warmth spreads through the body to drive out any chill the fire hasn’t already taken care of.

The perfect way to end Halloween night alone

After a long hot bath, slipping into comfy clothes and enjoying a hot drink by the fireplace, a perfect way to finish off the night is to play soft music in the background and crawl into bed with a good book. In the spirit of Halloween, the best literary choice would be a classic horror fiction. There are so many options to choose from but highly recommended are Murder of Quality by John Le Carre, Interview with a Vampire by Anne Rice, The Woman in Black by Susan Hill and the Hound of Baskersvilles and the Valley of Fear By Sir Arthur Conon Doyle. These books can be found at theworks, a retail distributor of books, stationery and toys with over 500 stores in the UK and Ireland and a strong online presence with delivery services for remote shoppers.

Conclusion

Halloween doesn’t have to be a loud affair. Anyone can celebrate it the way they choose or not at all. It can be just as fun wearing a costume and partying. But it is also most relaxing to shut the world out, curl up in bed with the best of horror fiction and disappear in a good scary story.
