Here at BeMRCOG, I do not offer any crash/revision courses, nor do I offer a question-only practice. Even for the Clinical Assessment (MRCOG part 3), I do not only offer a practice mock circuit but a complete guide on this exam. Because, BeMRCOG courses are not designed to create a statistics of pass percentage of the course, instead these courses are designed to help students develop core knowledge, skills and attitudes as prescribed in RCOG syllabus and curriculum. I respect all other available courses and appreciate the efforts of the course organisers. This blog post does not aim to minimise anyone else’s work, the sole purpose is to clarify the difference between various courses and help you understand what to expect on my course. Most of the traditional revision courses (usually 2-3 months), provide you practice and reading material with main focus on the content of syllabus (also called body of knowledge). Whereas, while designing BeMRCOG courses, I adopted the ‘curriculum as praxis’ approach. This is to ensure that the candidates can develop and demonstrate all the three core components: knowledge, skills and attitudes as endorsed by RCOG curriculum. Examples of these skills are critical thinking, interactions with patients and colleagues, safety oriented focus, leadership and management skills and quite a few others that can form an exhaustive list. These skills cannot be developed by going through a pile of text books, reading material and question practice. It requires a strategic development of these skills starting from ground level. This indeed is a tedious process, and here in the UK the candidates go through a formal training process of at least 6 years before sitting for MRCOG part 2. Non-UK based candidates do not get this opportunity but are expected to demonstrate same standards in exam. I have tried to bridge this gap for non-UK based candidates by mentoring through my courses and taking them through simulated training process via this long-distance learning programme. Those who enter my course with an understanding of this process are not disappointed, because their focus is on developing the required skills and passing the exam using my guidance and facilitation, instead of expecting to learn some magic tricks and short cuts to make them pass in the first attempt. What happens here at BeMRCOG is an educational process in which I offer my individual support to every student so they can go through the spiral learning curve and master the desired skills. While going through this process, it’s not very uncommon for me to see people transforming into a whole new being by identifying and acknowledging their own potentials. It’s never promised to be easy, it’s never promised to be a first time pass, but my promise to you is that if you give me your dedication and trust, I will take you to a journey of self-discovery and surprise yourself with the heights you could rise to. And this claim is not just a play of words. Every student who has been in close contact with me through the period of their journey has emerged out as not only MRCOG, but a whole new person. The most frequent compliment I have received from a countless number of students is ‘I have never seen someone like you’ and those who know me, can vouch that I am not overstating a single word. This is what made me change the mission statement of BeMRCOG from ‘working together for success’ to ‘working together for success to produce tomorrow’s leaders’. If you are considering to join my courses, I want you to understand that teaching and learning are two parallel but entirely different and independent processes. Delivering a perfect teaching session is no guarantee that learning has happened, because the most important variable in this scenario is the student. There is no ‘one size fit all’ formula in the process of teaching and learning, because an educational process is led by the learner rather than the teacher. Therefore, I offer an individualised mentoring and support alongside the strategically designed online teaching material. I would suggest you to analyse the course fees with all of this background in mind and look at the duration of time you can enjoy this unique learning experience without any hidden or additional costs. You will be able to figure out the cost-effectiveness for the quality you receive. The choice is yours. Just remember, success in MRCOG exam is not about speed, but about depth of knowledge.
