Six Questions to Ask Before Hiring a Roofing Contractor

Posted by Teresa Garza on September 20th, 2019

Selecting the right contractor to repair or install a new roof is an important decision. Your new roof will not only heighten the aesthetics of your home, but increase its value. Bad work could lead to money pouring out of your pocket to fix issues that could result in property damage.

To help you choose the right roofing contractor in Dallas, we have compiled six must ask questions to help.

1. Is there a website for your business?

An established contractor will have a website and a physical address. This allows prospective customers to do their own research, and see the work that has been completed. If storm damage roof repair is needed, having a physical address is important. Websites will give you the history and pertinent information.

2. License and Insurance?

Business licensing is vital. Asking to see a license is okay. While it may seem obvious, there are contractors who don't have a license. Be aware that businesses licenses expire, so always look for that all important date.

3. How long have you been in business?

To get roof inspections in Dallas, or emergency roof repair in Dallas, you will want a contractor with a legacy. Rule of thumb, a contractor with at least ten years of experience is good.

4. Do you use subcontractors?

Subcontracting is perfectly fine. But, as the customer, you have a right to know this information. You should know if these subcontractors are insured and licensed.

5. Do you have references?

Ask your roofing contractor for references you can speak with. Past customers who have experienced an emergency roof repair in Dallas or just getting a roof inspection from a Dallas contractor can help you make an informed decision.

6. Will I get a written proposal?

If there is any problem, you want recourse. Without a written proposal, you have none.
