In UK, the worth of the private security industry is more than £6 billion. Therefore, it is prestigious and lucrative to join this industry professionally. However, it is not possible to join the industry without achieving the SIA license which regulates the private security industry across the UK. This license was created under the Private Security Industry Act 2001 with a vision to reduce all types of criminal activities and to raise the standard of security.

The Security Industry Authority has been able to reach this standard with its rules and regulations. The SIA approved licensing programs do not just train the participants for the manned security roles. It also enables an individual to become trained in operating the CCTV. Therefore, SIA has different types of licensing programs for different types of tasks associated with the security. The Level-2 award in Door Supervision and Security Guarding gives you the opportunity to work in various sectors of security as a specialist. The participants to these training programs need to be at least 18 years of age or older. These individuals also need to have any type of address proof that is older than three months.

The regulations with respect to fire safety awareness are also taught at this time. The participants also learn the emergency procedures and can strengthen their communication skill for better customer care.

Unit-2 : At this time, a participant learns the behavioural standards of working as a door-supervisor along with the basics of civil and criminal law. The participants learn how to search and arrest an individual whose actions may seem suspicious or unbecoming. The participants learn how to preserve a crime scene or record an incident. The basics of licensing law along with the emergency procedures are also taught to the candidates.

Unit-3 : A trainee learns about the protocol as well as the process of conflict management for the private security industry.

Unit-4 : It introduces a trainee to the physical intervention skills along with the important legislations.

A participant has to answer some multiple choice questions and has to undergo practical assessment in order to achieve this qualification. The security guarding course in London has also been divided in three units. The participants of this training program also learn how to manage a conflict and the detailed guidelines of the private-security industry. The participants of this training program need to answer 20-40 questions via a multiple-choice examination. The examinations are held on the final day of this training program. There is a minimum score for each unit and a participant has to achieve this score in order to qualify and to join the private-security industry as a guard with SIA license.
