Whether you think it's a known thing or not, it's wise to tell others in the home about these precautions below so that everyone can remain.
Do not attempt to dislodge food from a toaster or other such electrical appliance while it's still plugged in.
Make sure that you are not using extension cords for large appliances such as washing machines or refrigerators.
Do not pull on a cord to unplug it. Instead, just pull it out by holding the plastic housing which can hold the plug.
While you are working for electrical equipment, make sure you are not wearing any sort of metal.
Also, do not try to poke, probe, or fix electrical equipment with objects like pencils or rulers because the metal in them can serve as a form of conductor.
Keep a regular check to see that you haven’t stored any liquid near the electrical equipment.
