A lot of people wonder whether there is any difference between mold remediation and removal. This debate is common because there are some companies who guarantee mold removal and there are some which offer mold remediation services. Thus, it becomes necessary to know the difference between mold remediation and mold removal so that you can determine which service you need to solve your mold problem.

When it comes to distinguishing between both terms, you may find on some sites that both terms are the same and used interchangeably. However, this is not completely true. There is a slight difference between both terms. Each term must be used wisely while consulting a homeowner about mold problems.

Difference between Mold Removal and Mold Remediation

The term “mold removal” implies that the mold will be completely removed from your home. The fact is that microscopic mold spores exist naturally almost everywhere, indoors and outdoors. Hence, removing the entire mold is impossible in terms of practicality. This means when you see a company advertising mold removal or guarantee complete mold removal, you should understand that it is a fallacy.

On the other hand, mold remediation is a process of getting mold levels back to the normal or natural level which is not harmful or hazardous for the living environment. A qualified restoration company knows the science behind mold and its growth. Therefore, it advises its customers for mold remediation rather than trapping by using ‘mold removal’ term.

Though it may be the case that some companies may use “mold removal” term because people, who are new to mold problems, may search for mold removal rather than mold remediation. Using keywords to attract such customers is not wrong as long as it educates its customers about the whole mold remediation process and the safe level of mold spores. Telling that the entire mold will be removed and guarantee it is however wrong.

So, it must be clear to you what mold remediation and removal means before hiring a service provider.
