How important are interior decorators in today’s world?

Today’s generation is exposed to the entire world due to the widespread influence of the internet. Everyone knows where others are staying or travelling and what they are doing. People are also able to openly witness the varied styles of design that people use to decorate their home, farmhouse, beach house, office space, room, vacation home or even their bathrooms. There is free access to see the old, new, traditional and modern methods that are used while designing a space.

Nowadays, everyone has access to the spaces that are designed by interior decorators all across the globe. Their work is either displayed via social media or is spoken about via word of mouth. Instagram handles, too, provide information about the leading people in the decorating industry. This exposure has its advantages and disadvantages.

At times, too much exposure leaves one perpetually confused and perplexed as to what to choose while designing their house or work space. This leaves one in a conundrum and might not leave them happy with the choice that they make. On the other hand, for those who are decisive about what they want to do with their living or work space, they can take ideas and draw inspiration from the work of such people. They can then design their living or work space according to their own personal taste.

Lately, there has been an influx of interior decorators in India. There are great schools and colleges that are teaching the science behind this form of design. There are some who have made it big in the field while others are working in varied spaces that have begun to gain exposure. As there is a lot of scope of work, there is also a dire need for good work in the design industry in India.

Many celebrities too have begun to own houses. There are small time actors, models, sports persons and new age business entrepreneurs that are investing in new homes. They all get a sense of achievement upon buying a house of their own. They too love to design their houses. Their jobs or businesses are well paying and thus they are able to buy spaces for themselves. In turn, their homes are designed by top interior designers in India.
