Challenge

The Global HR Director of an international law firm was aware of the increasing impact of digital on the HR function. But she had no idea if AI-based solutions could add value to her current HRIS and how to start accessing them. Another other issue was a lack of time. They were currently in the middle of a big change/transformation project and she was not sure her team had the bandwidth to take on one more new initiative. Could she afford to spend time on learning about ‘digital’ when there were other competing priorities?


Solutions

The Human Capital Innovation Hub turned out to be the perfect solution. Based on discussions with a few members of the HR leadership team, a decision was made to focus on an AI-based Learning & Development solution which could assist a ‘Board’ sponsored initiative to improve training effectiveness. Successful project delivery was already a key deliverable for the team. The AI-based product could assemble individualized curated training content scattered across various areas- Learning Management Systems, powerpoint presentations, emails of individual employees, shared folders in various departments, etc. The UI interface made the employee experience very engaging while the AI-based platform enabled ‘intelligent’ measurement and facilitated quick adoption. The program helped the geographically spread L&D team (based in the US and Europe) get a good understanding of Machine Learning and its capability. Pilot planning was facilitated by the Hub while co-sharing with the other corporates enabled wider learning. A successful pilot and exposure to other AI-based start-ups upskilled the entire HR team and accelerated their transition to a digital environment.
