Pest control

If you have a cockroach issue in your home, then you are going to want to get them out, fast! You may want to consider one of the many pest control companies in Dubai to come to your aid or you may want to try some effective methods yourself, which we are going to take a closer look at with a list of the 10 Most Effective Ways to Get Rid of Cockroaches from Home.

1. Mint Oil

Mint oil is non-toxic and harmless, and it is purely the strong smell of the mint which helps to keep the cockroaches away, and not any strong chemical. It is suggested that you spray the oil in any areas you have noticed cockroach infection, leave it overnight and then the next day clean the area with a wet rag, repeating the process as long as is required.

2. Peppermint Oil

Mint oil can be an effective remedy. Just like mint oil, it is a non-toxic alternative. Mix 15 drops of the oil with 10 ounces of water, making sure to mix thoroughly, and spray around an infested area and repeat to enhance results.

3. Sugar and Borax

Here is another method you could try. Mix borax and sugar in a 3:1 ratio. Then you need to spread the resulting mixture where you have spotted cockroaches. Repeat this process for a few more days. When spreading the mixture, do make sure to wear protective gloves.

4. Neem

This is another form of oil, although it does also exist in powder form. Find yourself a spray bottle and add a spoon of neem. Fill this with water and then spray any infested areas, repeating the process each day for as long as needed to get rid of the pests.

5. Kaffir Essential Oil

Keeping with the oil theme still, Kaffir Essential Oil is used for cockroach removal. Results have shown that this is a very effective repellent to cockroaches. Just pour 10 drops of the oil in around 2 cups of water and pour the resulting mixture into a spray bottle. Once again you will need to spray any infected areas, repeating the process if needed.

6. Coffee Grounds

Now here is a household product you may already have that could repeal the roaches. Put some coffee grounds into some small paper cups and place those in water-filled jars. Then take the jar and place it against walls or baseboards where you have noticed the cockroaches. The smell of the coffee lures the roaches into the trap, and they will not be able to escape. Keep repeating the process as long as needed.

7. Silica Aerogel

For this method, you will need to get hold of some silica aerogel and mux it with sugar at a 3:1-part ratio. Then sprinkle the mixture on infested areas but make sure to keep away children and pets from that area. Once again, repeat the process for as much as you need to.

8. Diatomaceous Earth

You need to note that some Diatomaceous Earth contains silica dust, so make sure to purchase the one without the chemical in it. While handling this product do wear gloves and masks. Apply to any cockroach-infested areas, but not where it is wet as the substance will not work in such conditions. Repeat the process for the best results.

9. Detergent

Another item which you will likely already have at home. Mix 4 spoons of powdered or liquid form detergent in 1 litre of water and pour into a spray bottle. Spray anywhere you have spotted the roaches and keep repeating as needed.

10. Baking Soda

And finally, another product you may well have in your home. For this mix, take equal parts of baking soda and sugar and give them a good mix, then sprinkle the mix in the corners, nooks and crannies where you have noticed cockroaches. It is the sugar that attracts the roaches but the baking soda that they will then consume which will kill them for best pest control in Dubai. Repeat as needed.
