  • Real Madrid and Bruges last met in the European Cup in 1976-77, with the Belgian side progressing 2-0 on aggregate (W1, D1). Bruges were later eliminated in the quarter-final by Borussia Monchengladbach.
  • They played out a 0-0 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in October 1976 in the European Cup - their only previous meeting in Madrid.
  • Real have won all three of their Champions League home matches against Belgian opposition by an aggregate score of 14-2. Their last competitive home defeat by a Belgian side came back in December 1969 versus Standard Liege in the European Cup (W4, D1, L0 since).
  • The Spanish giants have lost their past two Champions League games at home (0-3 vs CSKA Moscow and 1-4 vs Ajax) - their longest such losing run in European history.

  • They have kept clean sheets in each of their past four Champions League matches, they had only kept five shutouts in their first 33 games in the competition.
  • Three of Real Madrid's past four Champions League games have ended in three-goal defeats - only three of their previous 152 games in the competition ended in defeat by three or more goals.
