Classifications and checklists of flammable goods cabinets

Posted by storagecabinets19 on October 14th, 2019

The classification of flammable and flammable liquids is mainly determined by the flash point and boiling point. The flammable liquid produces enough flammable vapor to ignite. The liquid changes to a vapor state at a certain pressure.

Flammable liquids are classified into:

Class IA: Includes fluids with flash points below 22.8oC and boiling points below 37.8oC. Class IB: It contains liquid containing flash points below 22.8oC and boiling at or above 37.8oC. Class IC: Contains fluid that has a flash point of 22.8oC or above or below 37.8oC

The composite fluid is classified into:

Class II: This contains liquid whose flash point is above 37.8oC or 60oC. Class IIIA: Contains flash point fluid below 60oC or 93oC. Class IIIB: Contains fluid containing flash points of 93oC or above.

Flash point and boiling point data can be easily found in Material Safety data sheets, especially in Section III physical and chemical data.

20 Critical Checks for using flammable goods cabinets

Now we are going to talk about 20 safety checks on flammable liquid storage and containers. Check one by one and make sure we have nothing left.

1. Maintain stock at minimum inventory level. The risk of a stock fire will definitely increase.

2. Storage and space shall be distinguished from other materials and chemicals.

3. Store flammable liquids away from processes.

Storage. Remove any ignition source (sparks, hot surfaces, exposed flames, smoke material) from storage and containers.

5. Provide clear labels for each container.

6. Formulate appropriate ventilation to disperse flammable steam from leakage, leakage or release from any process.

L Use appropriate containers with yarn and spillage catchment trays.

8. If possible replace flammable liquids with less flammable liquids.

9. Remove the flammable liquid completely from the process.

10. Keep container closed when not in use.

11. Exit routes should not be blocked in storage.

12. Inspect the storage tanks and containers for holes and leaks and ensure the caps and seal position.

13. Use appropriate cabinets made of high grade metal with self-closing doors and flame eraser for storage of flammable liquids.

14. Keep cabinets away from traffic, machinery, people and equipment that produces sparks, flames, or heat.

15. Do not exceed the capacity of the cabinet for the amount of flammable liquid

16. Use ventilation, explosion-proof lights and wiring, grounding system and elevated floor for storage room.

17. Place appropriate warning labels and signs on containers and storage rooms.

18. Provide spraying systems and back-up protection.

19. Do not allow unauthorized people to store flammable and flammable liquids and contain containers.

20. For storage tanks, it was better to install dikes with sufficient capacity.

The above checklists indicate a very basic safety requirement for flammable and flammable liquid storage.
