Patiently waiting for your brand new purchase to arrive is probably the hardest part of shopping online. You can already imagine yourself “fangirling” over your hot basketball sneaker purchase, even before you’ve received the actual package. Just when you thought shopping the best men’s basketball sneakers would pinch your pocket too hard, you found this awesome website that had all the coolest sports edition collections at jaw-dropping prices. However, with your new basketball sneakers on the way, have you given “breaking into your new basketball sneakers” a thought yet?

Buying a new sports shoe is all fun and games until you’re out on the basketball court flaunting your new purchase when the nasty shoe bites and the painful blisters set in. Even if you have your fuzzy socks to protect you, the new footwear would still demand some “settling in” time and we have the perfect guide for you to make this process super easy!

Breaking into your brand new sneakers

The “breaking into” part is more of a process rather than a quick tip. The first thing to keep in mind is that you need to get your new sneakers at least 2 weeks before you start taking them to competitive events. Now let us dive into the process-

  • For the first day, wear your new shoe for 10 minutes performing light activities. With each day, keep adding 10 more minutes so that by the third day, you have stretched it out to half an hour with your new shoe.
  • Now for the next 5 days, start wearing your shoe for an hour and try to get in as many warm-up activities as possible. Light jogging, walking, stretching etc.
  • For the next 5 days, you can start increasing your time with your new purchase from 1 to 2 or 2.5 hours. This time include some more rigorous activities such as jumps, pivots. You can even attend a practice session or two with it. Playing in your new gear can even tell you what your sweet spots are and what you should avoid doing in these sneakers.

We know it sounded a bit elaborate, but isn’t that better than blisters and “game-gone-wrongs” due to uncomfortable sneaker fit?
