A collaborative program which landed me at Amazon.

Hi there, I am Kiba Wangmo from Paro, Bhutan. I still remember the day when I got to know about Amazon from a friend of mine and I purchased a book by visiting the company’s website. Since that day, I had a dream of working with this global company. After passing out of school, I researched and got to know about the widened scope of artificial intelligence in the industry. Therefore, I decided to pursue BTech in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from Quantum University, Roorkee. The program was in collaboration with Xebia, which is a specialized global IT consultancy and service company based in Netherlands.

I entered into a new country with a lot of aspirations and a little nervousness. But after landing at the university, it didn’t take me long to get acclimatised in the culture. I met other students from Nepal, Bhutan and various parts of India. Soon, my classes began and professionals from Xebia started teaching me the concepts and algorithms of AI and Machine Learning along with their effective implementations in both theory and practice.

I learnt AI through an array of creative methods and technologies. The advanced curriculum made me familiarized with the nuances of automation, data analysis, pattern recognition and other related areas in the field. Experienced faculty members paid personal attention upon me, as and when I needed, I was free to approach them. During my internship, I got an opportunity to work with professionals from Xebia. I was provided with hands-on training and grew as per the industrial needs.

The advanced knowledge, industrial training and new-age curriculum provided me with skills that were looked upon by recruiters. College fests, events, workshops were regular happenings at the campus, which helped me in my all-rounded development. University made me industry ready in all aspects. During the last semester, several global behemoths visited the campus and offered a number of lucrative jobs to us. At that time, Amazon was also planning to rebuild itself with the usage of artificial intelligence; it visited the campus and recruited a lot of students from my batch. Apart from academics, I really enjoyed exploring the tourist heritages of Uttarakhand.

I would urge all my friends who are looking forwards to build career in engineering to do it form a university which is directly connected with the industry
