The HIV virus is spreading largely through contaminated blood transfusions and sexual contacts (with an infected person through semen, vaginal and anal fluids), and breastfeeding. Contaminated needles, syringes, tattooing equipment are the other ways of transmission of the HIV virus.

However, urine, saliva, and sweat are not mediums of HIV infection.

It invades the immune system and infects the healthy cells over time and eventually damage the entire immune system.

Unlike HIV, AIDS is not infectious but it involves a condition in which a person with the depleted immune system can be highly susceptible to opportunistic infections and cancers which in turn leads to a variety of chronic symptoms.

Infliction of Tuberculosis is very common with HIV infected people. A large percentage of TB patients have been found to be also carrying the HIV virus.
