OLD SCHOOL RUNESCAPE: A REQUIEM REVIEW FOR THE NEW GENERATION

Posted by Darius Kimarius on October 21st, 2019

No old school gamer talks of Runescape without a sheer feel of nostalgia overcoming them with emotion as back in the day this game “helped shape many childhood memories” as they say. It is one of those nostalgic games that has survived the ages and still is playable by its loyal fan base community. Currently as I’m making the review, the game’s official website records over 80 thousand players currently on the game.  This just shows of the enormous stability it enjoys. But what makes this game so special? Old School Runescape is very rich game regarding customization and in-game economy. The main currency for the game is OSRS Gold. You can buy OSRS Gold from other players or from online marketplaces for example here: https://www.eldorado.gg/osrs-gold/g/10-0-0.

Runescape is unfortunately bad at explaining itself since the current modern version still played by the gamers is rather a remake since it has been subject of many totally radical updates which basically created a whole new game in the ashes of the old. This is the latest version known as Runescape 3 which did not have much success although is still pretty much playable by many fans of the series. After a poll to see whether the players wanted to play Runescape as it was back in the day, the overwhelming response with over half a million votes, the fanbase community wanted to return the game back as it was, and boom Old School Runescape was born.

This game is very much different from any previous MMO, it doesn’t have what someone would normally expect from such title, including no classes but only 23 skills which are broadly combed together from crafting to gathering to combat skills. Every skill is meant to reflect the individual playstyle of the gamers’ character and it makes it easier to progress in your field by gaining experience which allows you to deal greater damage, catch fish, and craft potions and so on. The aim is to go to level 99 and upgrade all the skills consistently until this level is reached.

Overall this is a truly unique MMO style game that has marked a great nostalgic return and is definitely worth exploring for a unique taste of original gaming content and a fresh feel of good old gaming. For more updates on Runescape stay tuned!
