Well, with the coming of multiplexes, small towns, and rural areas lost out on reasonably-priced family entertainment. However, now, mobile movie theatres are taking the cinematic experience back to the hinterlands.

Therefore, the cinema complex uprising may have transformed urban Indians’ movie-watching familiarity; however for whom who are living outside big cities, communicable the latest Hollywood, Bollywood, or regional film in a cinema hall is difficult and also sometimes impossible.

Unfortunately, unlike the US and China, which have above 40,000 movie screens each, India has just near about 9,000. And, these include single-screen theatres and multiplexes, most of which are concentrated in the largest 30 cities. So, a nation of above 1.3 billion people still has countless small towns and villages a world away from the nearest cinema.

On the other hand, digiplex, mobile theatre vans, run by Picture Times, offers the audiences high-quality movie-viewing experience with HD interactive screen with the live chat function and 5.1 Dolby surround sound. Also, it is an inflatable air-conditioned all-weather structure with seating to accommodate 120 -150 people.

Moreover, the company is following the industry standard when it comes to distribution. And, each picture is acquired by a revenue share for big movies which also give them 50-60 percent revenue share, plus 40-45 percent on the weekends as well as this is the revenue share followed by the industry and we follow the same model.

Hence, the revenue model for the digital theatre will be a ticket, which is priced at Rs 30-50. And, advertising from government and private companies and marketplace are the other ways for revenue generation.

Further, picture Times has invested heavily in this venture. Also, almost each component has an investment of Rs 50 lakh, plus a modernization because the people can't get a digital theatre at such a small figure. Next, for doing such a kind of theatre otherwise, you need an investment of around Rs 1.5-2 crore.  And, the company will raise the funds through private equity investors," he said.

In addition to this, it is being used as a platform to interact with the Government, local leaders as well as have space which can be used as an office for various purposes. Subsequently, it is also a platform that enables and can be used for e-commerce and other essential commodities on the ground.

Moving further, the CEO said, “We created this as a digital tool, which can help the government and a private company to connect with the last mile. And, the interior of India has no connectivity. Also, this mobile digital theatre made on a truck or van is an office, movie theatre, and market or information center on wheels. Nowadays, the Government is using this as a service center and also as an education center.”
