This is higher than the 65 psi that is found in the standard water piping systems. In addition, it is above the schedule 40 PVC pipe rating standard of 140 psi. With this specialized ability, this pipe is ideal for use in situations or applications where the water is under moderate or high pressure.

With regard to pressure capacities, the Schedule 80 Pipe falls in the middle of the scale for PVC pipes. However, it is important to recognize that the schedule 80 piping systems have some limitations that must be considered. Underground applications

Schedule 80 pipes offer greater strength owing to their thicker pipe walls. When pipes are buried underground, they can become slightly flatted or compressed because of the weight of the backfill. Although the thicker walls of schedule 80 pipes offer adequate insulation, if you are looking for a more effective solution, then external fiberglass pipe insulation is the best bet.

In some areas, building codes necessitate the use of Schedule 80 PVC pipe even in instances that do not require this pipe schedule. In such cases, this pipe schedule should be used to meet the set building codes and avoid having problems with the law and local authorities.
