Those who are fond of using cannabis-derived products regularly are often tempted to try growing it at their homes. There are many benefits to doing this- it considerably reduces the cost and there are no hassles of having to purchase medicinal marijuana.

Numerous people across the globe grow cannabis at their homes, while some of them do not face any problem, others might not have it as easy. Mostly these issues are related to the improper use of lighting. LED cannabis grow lights are great for making sure that the plant grows efficiently. However, if they are not used properly, they may harm the plant. Here are some common mistakes that you must avoid when using LED grow lights for growing cannabis.

LED cannabis grow lights

Heating the plants beyond a certain limit

When the leaves closest to the LED cannabis grow light start appearing brown it is a sign that you are exposing the plant to too much heat. If this comes into your notice quickly, you can prevent further damage to the plant. If the leaves start curling that is another sign that the plant has been exposed to too much light. Proper ventilation can help to resolve this issue.

Providing too little lighting

You must take the scale of your operations into account. You must ask the seller about how much lighting would be sufficient to grow the number of cannabis plants that you require. You must also make yourself aware of the luminosity of lights you are going to use. You must have sufficient LED lights but remember not to overdo it.

Not setting the lights at a proper distance

Overheating and insufficient lighting is not always the result of having too many or too few lights. If you place the light too near or far from the plants, you will face the same issues. There is no rule of thumb in this regard, but it is good to place the LEDs at least 15 to 20 inches away from the plants.

Using inferior quality of LED lights

Light is an important consideration when growing cannabis plants because it triggers the process of photosynthesis. If you use just any regular lights for this purpose, they will not aid in the fast and healthy growth of plants. For best results, you must only use full-spectrum LED cannabis to grow lights that are specifically designed for this purpose.

Not adjusting the lights

Many people do not adjust the height of the light as the plant grows bigger in size. This causes the leaves to burn. Furthermore, the plant must also be rotated every now and then so that they are not exposed to too much or too little light.

Apart from all this, many people also make the mistake of not turning off the LED cannabis grow light for prolonged durations. They assume that it will help in better growth of the plant, which is not always true. You must follow a proper light schedule so that there is no adverse impact on plant growth.
