How do I apply for a White/Yellow CSCS Card- Professionally Qualified Person?

CSCS is the Construction skills certification scheme cards that are used in the UK by construction companies as proof for ensuring that the worker is competent and proficient in his work. It also demonstrates that the worker has achieved a basic level of health, safety, and environmental awareness. CSCS Card scheme was initiated in the 1990s with a resolution to reduce the rising numbers of onsite accidents. This has achieved its goals up to a level by reduced numbers of accidents reported.

The various types of cards issued are:

  • Trainee
  • Manager
  • Site visitor
  • Advanced craft or supervisory

CSCS white card:

Three types of white cards are issued which suit the professionally qualified operatives. One of these is white/yellow professionally qualified person card.

White/yellow professionally qualified card: The white/ yellow CSCS card is issued to the competency assessed members in the professional bodies. Professional bodies will be including the following bodies:

  • The Architects Registration Board (ARB)
  • The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
  • The Institute of Civil Engineering (ICE)
  • The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)

Eligibility:

  • If you wish apply to White/Yellow CSCS Card, you should be a certified member of an approved institution which is mentioned above and has been assessed for the competency and proficiency by one or more professional bodies.
  • Along with that, you will have to provide the evidence of membership certificate for applying for the CSCS card. It is compulsory to submit this proof.
  • In case you lack the certificate or card, then you would be scrutinized as a competence assessed through the letter or email from an approved professional body.
  • You need to qualify the managers and professionals CITB health and safety test before seeking this certification.
  • The card is valid for a time period of five years and is renewable in nature. The procedure for renewal is going to be different.

How to apply for the PQP card:

For applying the PQP card one must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Qualify in the CITB Managers and Professionals Health, safety and environment test.
  • Should give the evidence or proof of professional body membership number along with a copy of your professional certificate or card. You can also provide the name, membership number in case you do not possess the professional membership certificate. You will be assessed for competency in your skilled work.

You must also qualify the CSCS Test. Along with that, you will be required to take the Managerial and professional health, safety and Environment test, also called a MAP. The CSCS Card tests can be booked online at various institutes in the UK. Once issued the PQP card is valid for tenure of 5 years and it can be renewed on application. The only constraint is that the professional body membership card should be still endorsed.
