Do’s & Don’ts When Visiting A Dispensary

Posted by Melvin Magadia on October 31st, 2019

As more and more states are starting to legalize medical and recreational cannabis, dispensaries have provided patients with a safe, easy, and convenient manner of acquiring weed. If you are visiting a dispensary for the first time, the experience may be overwhelming for you especially if you don’t know what to expect. In this article, we have compiled some “do’s and don’ts” in order to make your visit to a Salem dispensary truly worthwhile.

Do’s

Knowing the proper etiquette when visiting a dispensary will help ensure a memorable visit to the dispensary.

Do Research About The Dispensary

While you can visit a dispensary without prior knowledge of marijuana, it is best to do your homework and do some readings about the different strains. Also, know what type of experience you are looking for from the dispensary. Are you simply looking for pain relief? Do you want to achieve a “euphoric” high? Make a comparison of the dispensaries, compare their products, and services.

Expect Tight Security

Cannabis is still not Federally legal. Aside from that, some banks are also not willing to work with dispensaries. For this reason, there will be tight security in dispensaries and that should be no surprise. Security measures may include installing extra cameras or the presence of armed guards.

Do Come Prepared

With a dispensary, you cannot just enter and purchase the cannabis you are looking for. If you are looking for recreational cannabis, make sure that you have a valid or acceptable ID when asked to present. For medical cannabis, make sure that your documents are in order and that it is updated or accurate.

Be Ready To Wait

It is not uncommon for customers to be waiting in line since dispensaries only serve one customer at a time. Most medical patients would want to talk to budtenders in private due to the sensitivity of medical information they will share to the dispensary staff.

Don’ts

While there are things that you can do inside a dispensary, there are also things that you cannot do or should avoid.

Force Yourself To Buy

Just because you are in a dispensary doesn’t mean you have to buy cannabis. You may be there to do some research first and are not ready to move forward yet. The products being sold in the dispensary may not be suitable for your condition. You may want to check out other dispensaries first.

Go Beyond Your Limits

If the budtender advises you not to take something because it’s too strong, by all means heed their advice. Cannabis have different effects on our body. You may be like other people basing tolerance assumptions on incorrect factors. Budtenders have experience and want you to have a good time. Listen to them if you aren’t sure about anything.

Talk About Plans for Illegal Activity

While most patients who visit dispensaries are pleasant and law-abiding citizens, there will always be an exception to the rule. Don’t ask advice from budtenders on how you can circumvent state or Federal guidelines openly on a camera.

Following these do’s and don’ts will help ensure that you have an enjoyable visit in a dispensary.
