AEDs The Importance of Automated External Defibrillators

Training on the use of AED Tracking and Data Management is important for non-medical professionals. It is especially important for people who are at a high risk of cardiac arrest. Initially, manual defibrillators were used and people needed a lot of training to be able to operate them. The people who used them were required to be able to interpret the patient’s heart rhythm, which was visible on a screen attached to the device.

They needed to interpret the rhythm and analyze whether it required defibrillation and then manually deliver shock if this was the case. It is a sensitive procedure and that is why it was only a reserve of highly trained emergency professionals including nurses, paramedics and physicians. The advancement of technology allowed the development of automated external defibrillators in the 90s. They make it possible for people without medical training to use defibrillators to restore proper heart rhythms in victims and therefore save lives which would otherwise be lost if they were ignorant.

AED services work by making an analysis of the victim’s heart to determine if a shock should be administered. There is knowledge that will help person to operate the device well and correctly. It also helps to ensure complete safety of the victim and anyone around them. Training on how to use it involves how to safely handle the device and administer shock, and how to interpret the analysis of the rhythms of the heart activity of the victim.

When a person has cardiac arrest, it means that their heart stops beating suddenly. It is most of the times caused by an abnormal heart rhythm usually called ventricular fibrillation and it can happen to anyone at any time. it is as a result of an abnormal and very quick electrical activity in the heart. It is chaotic and the result is that the heart remains quivering and unable to pump blood. VF needs to be treated immediately because it can deteriorate to a flat line if not promptly treated. Cardiac arrest is not heart attack. Heart attacks are usually very serious and they can lead to sudden cardiac arrest. Sudden cardiac arrest can occur without a heart attack occurring first, they result in death if not treated promptly.

There has been an improvement in AEDs. The new ones have a microprocessor inside the defibrillator. The microprocessor functions by analyzing the heart rhythms of the victim using adhesive electrodes. It uses audio to inform the operator if a shock is needed. In the case of a ventricular fibrillation or fast ventricular tachycardia, the operator will be advised to apply shock. The AED service  system works by delivering the electric current via the victim’s chest through the adhesive electrode pad. It is safe and reliable because one will not deliver shock to a person who does not require it.

Companies like Zoll produce these new defibrillators and they are useful in schools, hospitals, health clubs, and health clinics. It is important to train people who work in or as flight attendants, health club employees, Lifeguards, nursing homes, students, golf pros and security guards among other groups of people to use the devices. They should master the sequence to follow when operating t so they can help anyone in trouble or with cardiac arrest near them. Keep in mind that in as someone suffers cardiac arrest, the first few minutes after determine whether they will survive or not, depending o the action taken.
