For most people, the idea of an evening well-spent after a hard day’s work would involve the company of good friends, some music and a bottle of good wine. Simply put, wine is one of the most delicious and certainly one of the most complex drinks on this planet. Though having simple origins (fermented grape juice), it comes in a variety of tastes and styles. It can be still or fizzy, it can range from a dark-colored full-bodied drink to a tingly, light and lively drink. Imagine! All this from a single fruit-grapes!

Wine growing (Viticulture) has been a part of ancient Indian culture, dating back to the Indus Valley Civilization. In the 21st century wine making has been revived in India. Slowly but steadily Indian wines are making their presence felt. Some of the Best Indian Wines include:

1. Fratelli Gran Cuvee Brut: This is a dry and sparkling wine with a creamy and delicate finish. It is one of the best sparkling wines available in the Indian market. It is the perfect addition to any festivities.

2. Myra Reserve Shiraz: Indians love their fruits and this wine is generous on that count. It is a red wine from Bangalore that has spicy notes which can be experienced on the palate. Though it is oaked, it is elegant and easy to drink. Additionally, it is also easy on the pocket making it even more attractive.

3. Rasa Shiraz: This a product of the famous Sula Vineyards of Nashik. This red wine is widely used in barbecues and preparing gourmet dishes. It has a classic aroma and because of its reasonable pricing, has a wide appeal among the globe-trotting modern Indians.

4. Grover La’Reserve: It is considered one of the Best Indian Wines and is well worth its weight. The red wine is made in the best wine making customs of Bordeaux and is matured in French oak barrels.

5. Fratelli Vitae Chardonnay: This is a medium bodied white wine with a velvety texture that gives an intense palate. It has a toasty flavor and the lovers of this wine vouch for its burgundy style.

The list can certainly do with many more additions and opinions are sure to differ, but it is heartening to note that Indian wines are slowly but steadily making their presence felt globally.
