Just like oxygen, light is also another negative factor which can degrade the quality of cooking oils. Therefore, to keep edible intact, you must keep them away from such places which are exposed toa lot of light. It is always great if you store cooking oils in dark coloured glass container and keep them inside any cool and dark cabinet. There are a few oils, which you can safely keep without refrigerating. However, in such case, you have to ensure that the stored place must be cool, dry and most importantly away from sunlight.   1. You must not purchase brown coloured glass bottle as it lets in a huge amount of light.

  2. It is always better to go for dark blue or green coloured glass bottles to keep cooking oils healthy.

  3. To keep various kind of edible oils i.e. corn oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil fresh and healthy, you can reuse dark coloured vinegar or wine bottles.

  4. You must avoid usage of plastic bottles to store cooking oils.

When it comes to storing cooking oils, the expiration date of that oil is a major thing. You have to track the date of manufacturing of that purchased oil and make a calculated guess of its best before date if not given. You can only store any cooking oil up to a few months before the expiration date. If you have any doubts about the health of any cooking oil, it is better to buy a fresh packet.
