There are so many schools, programs and locations that elections can overwhelm students, even Americans. When you begin your search at school, it is important to familiarize yourself with the American education system. Understanding the system will help you reduce your options and develop an educational plan. Educational structure Around the age of six, American children begin elementary school, which is commonly known as "elementary school." They attend primary school for five or six years and then attend secondary school. The secondary school consists of two programs: the first is "secondary" or "secondary" and the second is "secondary school". A diploma or certificate is awarded after high school. After graduating from high school (12th grade), students from the United States can go to college or university. Higher education is called "higher education."
