How can I mend the cedar wood tile on the exterior wall, it was originally stained with oil I was told I could use water- Based on top products. Is this true? I\'m not sure if the water The basic finish in your mind will work, but I will do one thing. Take a small tank of water- Based on stains and give it a try in a small place. Give this test a few months to see if it works and stays on the old surface. I think so, but you have to be sure. If there is any peeling on the surface of the old product, it must be removed before testing. Scrubbing and very gentle pressure washing may be your best choice. Another option is to make your cedar wood tile unfinished. Bare wood will not shorten the life of the wooden tile, and it is definitely a lowkey approach. The villa is enough to work without having to re- Often dirty the walls. I have achieved good results with a wood darkening product called Ecowood retreat. Even in areas where there is not enough weather to naturally gray, it gives the wood a uniform, weather-filled look. The cedar tiles you see here are only a few years old, but they have been treated with this stuff.
