People’s Favourite Indian Idol Contestants & Winners

Indian Idol has been one of the biggest singing reality show platforms and has given us many leading and talented playback voices. The show, whenever its season rolled out, has been a huge success and garnered many fans across the globe.

Some of the Indian Idol contestants have been way too good on the show and made a mark for themselves after the show was over. They were much loved by the audiences and judges alike. Come every weekend evening and almost the entire country were glued to their Dish TV, the best DTH service in India.

Let’s revisit some of the old seasons of Indian Idol and see who our favourite contestants have been, right from season one. 

Abhijeet Sawant (Season 1)

Indian Idol season 1 winner Abhijeet Sawant became the household name after his royal win and the entire nation rooted for him too. After Indian Idol, he participated in couple of other reality shows too like Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar and Asian Idol. His first music album got him a great response but nothing really materialized after that. He lent his voice to a couple of Bollywood numbers but nothing too big. 

Rahul Vaidya (Season 1)

Finishing a close third after Abhijeet Sawant on Indian Idol 1, it was actually Rahul Vaidya whose voice was loved more. He did a couple of music albums, TV show host gigs, Bollywood playback numbers, and more but nothing worked for him. His playback singing career never took to heights and it just fizzled out. Though his singing performances will always be a fond memory of times with Indian Idol on Dish TV, the best d2h in India. 

Sandeep Acharya (Season 2)

Sandeep Acharya has been one of the most popular and loved contestants on the show ever whose charm, talent, and looks were all appreciated by everyone. Post his win of the Indian Idol Season 2, he never stopped to look back. His music video, his singing performances, and his concerts all over India and rest of the world won him many prestigious awards and accolades. Though he passed away in 2013 following a long illness, his talent and charm will always afloat.

Monali Thakur (Season 2)

Though after being at 9^th position in Indian Idol2, Monali Thakur’s soothing voice, her pleasing personality, and her effervescent persona didn’t go unnoticed. She is probably one of the most popular Indian Idol contestants that did extremely well for themselves even after the show was over. She lent her voice for popular movies like Lootera, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Race, Golmaal Returns, and more. 

Besides above, there were other successful and much-loved Indian Idol contestants like Prashant Tamang, Meiyang Chang, Bhavya Pandit, and Sreerama Chandra Mynampati whose career didn’t really skyrocket but were given love in abundance by the country.
