Obesity is the state of the body where one is overweight in accordance with one's height. In scientific terms, Body Mass Index (BMI) is the calculator of one's obesity. Generally, a BMI of more than 30 is considered obesity. Now, come to think of it excess weight can be because of poor lifestyle or genetic or because of some really serious health issues.

Solving this whole excess weight might seem a little tricky but there are weight loss treatments and weight-loss surgeries that are done at the click of the hand. Eliminating excess weight through medical treatments is called bariatric surgery. It’s nothing but making changes to one’s digestive systems so that one can tackle obesity easily. There are quite a few types of bariatric surgeries

Some types of bariatric surgery make your stomach smaller allowing you to eat or drink less at a given time and also making you feel full sooner than normal. Other bariatric surgeries change your small intestine that small intestine is that part of one's digestive system which extracts nutrients, calories, and minerals from the food and beverages taken into the body.

However, it is always recommended by the doctors also that it is better to lose weight naturally by working out and following a low-fat diet. This is essential because even though after the surgery one might not lose as much weight as they might have expected. Also, on average, a person going through bariatric surgery can lose only up to 15-30% of excessive fat. And this surgery does not guarantee to replace your current habits with healthier ones.

Though this seems to be an easy option for weight loss, bariatric surgery may be an option if one has some serious health issues like type 2 diabetes or sleep apnea. In situations like these, the patient might not be able to lose weight or wants to keep himself from gaining that kind of weight again. Hence bariatric surgery might seem quite a fruitful option here.

So to conclude, treating excess weight should be done right because to keep your body fit, fine and healthy in the long run, every step from the present counts. Initially, one can always try following a healthy regime and working out on a regular basis. Only non-avoidable obesity situations should be treated with bariatric surgery.
