Bookmolds Offer More Flexibility for Medical Device Molding

Posted by John Schmitz on November 25th, 2019

For years, medical device manufacturers have been utilizing traditional parting line molds to product a new medical device. These molds are attached to a vertical molding press with the top mold being actually being attached to the mold itself.

This often makes it diffucult for machine workers to switch molds over, slows down the manufacturing process, and creates a high-risk for damaged parts and mold inserts.

Aberdeen Technologies, Inc has been able to alleviate these issues with their new technology of Bookmolds.

The top and bottom of the bookmolds are attached to each other by a metal frame. This mold specifically is designed to be used on a vertical machine with a rotary table. The hinge ensures the mold is opened and closed exactly the same way every time.

This technology protects the delicate molding inserts, provides higher yields for customers, and makes it available to run up to 12 different molds at one time on one machine.

Aberdeen Technologies is the leading mold tooling manufacturer and full scale production provider in the medical injection molding sector. Along with their other injection molding services, Aberdeen has all the tools to keep the entire process in house. From helping with designing your product and mold, to manufacturing the tooling, to running full scale production.

They can even set you up with your own machine if you were to deside to bring the molding to your facility.
