During the installation process, these identification letters assist operators in lining up and pairing wires on each connector housing. By taking the help of the letters on one of the housings, users can make sure that the connecting wire is in the same cavity location on the other housing of the connector.

Generally, the letters marked on the female housing are counter-clockwise, whereas the male housing has identification letters that are marked clockwise.
