What is the use of different types of relays such as contractors, electric and p

To begin with, a relay is an automatic device which has the ability to sense an abnormal condition happening in the electrical unit, it then closes its contacts. These contacts in return close and complete the circuit breaker trip coil and hence make the circuit breaker trip from disconnecting the faulty portion of the electrical circuit from the rest of the healthy circuit.

Now that you know what relays types of relays are there, they are usually divided based on their characteristics, logic, actuating parameter and operation mechanism. Based on operation mechanism protection relay can be bifurcated into the electromagnetic relay, mechanic relay and static relay.

In layman terms, a relay is an amalgamation of one or more open or closed contacts. These all or some specific contacts, in it the relay change their state while actuating parameters are applied to the relay. It means open contactors become closed, and vice versa. When talking about the electromagnetic relay, the closing and opening of relay contacts are done by the electromagnetic action of a solenoid.

However, electric relays, are basically electrically operated switches that come in various shapes, power ratings, and sizes that are suitable for all kinds of applications. Moreover, relays have either single or multiple contacts within a single package with the larger power relays which can be used for high current or mains voltage switching applications that are called contractors.

When solely talking about protection relays, it is a smart device that receives various inputs and then, later on, compares it to set points, and provide outputs. When talking about the inputs, it consists of current, voltage, resistance, or temperature. On the other hand, the output might include things such as visual feedback in the form of indicator lights and/or an alphanumeric display, communications, control warnings, alarms, and turning the power off and on.

Another important point to keep in mind here is push buttons, that plays a crucial role when talking about electric and protection relays. They are simple power controlling switched of a machine or any other appliance. They are more often than not just metal or thermoplastic switches that are supposed to be intended to grant you easy access to the consumers.

The primary idea between the electric units is that the electricity should easily be able to flow uninterrupted through the various wires and components. However, circuits that are always complete are said to be not as useful as the ones that work only when it is required.
