Easily Missed Signs of Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is prevalent among men in the United Kingdom and all over the world. Signs of this type of cancer are generally observed when the tumor is already at an advanced stage. Pain experienced in various parts of the bodycanmean you need to get checked for prostate cancer.

Here are the early signs of prostate cancer that most people ignore:

  • Pain when passing urine: The small nut-shaped gland in the body is the prostate, which enlarges when cancerous cells spread through it. This is what causes pressure on the urethra leading to painful urination.
  • Bone pain: This type of cancer spreads fast throughout the body. When prostate cancer spreads to the bones, one may experience pain in one or more of these areas: the skull, spine, pelvis, and ribs. The tumor enlarges and exerts pressure on the bones, and this is what causes the pain.
  • Pain at night: At night is when it is felt most, although the pain may occur at any other time.
  • Back pain: When this cancer spreads to the spine, it may cause a condition called spinal cord compression. If not checked, it may lead to severe back pain. The nerves are responsible for controlling the sensations that cause the spine to adjust.

Other symptoms are:

  • Painful urination
  • Less pressure when urinating
  • Blood in the urine
  • Pelvic discomfort
  • Pain in the bones
  • Erectile dysfunction
