Dr. Jay Jalisi Offers Full Support For Juvenile Justice And Homelessness Bills

Ever since Dr. Jay Jalisi dove into politics, he's always had a focus on helping out the less fortunate. He is one of the strongest supporters for several new bills locally and nationally that focus on juvenile justice reforms, and reducing homelessness. He strongly believes that it is a group effort, and it starts with leaders in political office to get things going.

A passion for the less fortunate

Delegate Jay Jalisi first took his role in the house of delegates in 2015. He was then re-elected to the Maryland Assembly three years later, taking home to victory in a landslide vote. One of the main reasons why he has had such strong support throughout his time is his passion for the less fortunate.

He is not the only one to talk about the less fortunate, but take action as well. He has worked directly in juvenile justice reforms in the last few years, helping spearhead several changes that have not only taken place, but have the chance to go through in the future.

Dr. Jay JalisiRight now, he continues to focus on helping with legislation that puts restrictions on shackling and strip searches of juveniles. He believes that this is not something that needs to be done, especially when it comes to children who are under the age of 12.

His passion is providing a voice for those who are often overlooked. It can be very frustrating to deal with all the current laws in place, as children rarely have a voice. They often lose that voice when they are facing legal issues, but Jalisi believes everyone deserves to be heard.

The homelessness issue in Maryland

Growing up in Maryland and going to Johns Hopkins University in Maryland has made Jalisi very passionate about his state. He believes that there is a lot to like about the state of Maryland, but the homelessness issue continues to get more and more out of hand. He has focused on a lot of the bills that are specifically designed to reduce homelessness as much as possible.

His current focus has been on getting funds necessary to support special programs that will help pass out grants for housing in the most necessary area. He spent a lot of time focusing his efforts on this, and it was finally approved earlier this year.

Much like juvenile justice, Jalisi believes that homeless people do not have this type of boys that they need to see a true change. That's why he believes in fighting for what's right, and helping them turn their life around.
