In earlier times, halogens were used as fishing lights but these produced a lot of heat and did not last long. As of now, halogens have been replaced by highly efficient LED lights. The reason why they have become so popular is that LED lights are highly cost-effective and are much more durable. Read on to learn more about how LED lights are being used across the fishing industry.

Why LED lights are a better alternative for fishing lights?

  • Using these lights for the interiors and exterior of your vessel will make it appear brighter.
  • These lights are highly helpful in your night-time fishing because they double as spotlights.
  • Combination of various colors, such as white, blue, and green fishing light help to attract a greater number of fish towards your vessel.

How is LED green fishing light more beneficial?

  • It is common knowledge that white and green lights are the best for attracting more number of baitfish at night. However, it is the LED green fishing light which has the shortest wavelength in the visible spectrum at about 490-560 nm. This means it can penetrate water easily before it scatters. Where there is poor visibility, LED green fishing light causes the water to appear clearer while efficiently deflecting the grainy particles in it.
  • As soon as zooplanktons spot the green light, they start swimming towards it. Post this, squid, shrimp, and other small fish start chasing the planktons. Understandably, predatory fish start going after these small fish. Thus, LED green fishing light sets in motion a food chain reaction. The brilliant outcome of all of this is that fish swimming directly towards your boat in great numbers.

What must be kept in mind when using LED green fishing lights

  • Ensure that your vessel is anchored to attract fish. This is essential since bait-fish and plankton should have to be able to gather around the light.
  • Drift or move slowly so that even microswimmers get induced to chase the light.
  • Change your location if the bait-fish do not start appearing even after 30 minutes of lighting.
  • Keep the LED green fishing light slightly submerged underwater to increase visibility and attract more fish.
  • Do not make the mistake of shining from the down under, pointing upwards in the direction of the surface.
  • To maximize the radius, you can use a fixture with two green lenses, separated by a space of about three to four feet.
  • Start fishing from the outer edge of the light so that you don’t miss out on catching those fish that swim directly toward the beam.

Using LED green fishing light has proved highly beneficial for those engaged in the fishing industry. Experienced fishermen are well aware of the fact that predators follow bait-fish and if you are able to attract bait-fish, half the deal is done. Simply install LED green fishing light to make your fishing expedition highly lucrative.
