How Digital Marketing Will Change In 2020

Posted by Shivansh Bhanwariya on December 2nd, 2019

Over the past few years, digital marketing has been on the hype and it'll continue to be at the top for sure.

But in 2019, some noticeable changes have been seen in this industry.

As consumer behavior is constantly and consistently changing, brands and small businesses are optimizing their marketing models to get the best possible results in the technological age.

This proves that digital marketing is definitely going to change in a lot of different terms.

Let's have a look at them all one by one.

1. It's going to become omnichannel.

Yea, that completely right. The time is over when you used to rely on one single source for all of your profits. You can't just do one thing like SEO and be satisfied in a world where every second is adding up to 7 new internet users. With that being said, switching to multiple channels with your mainstream is the key to succeed in the upcoming years. If you don't utilize all the options out there, you won't do well in the long run.

2. Brands will dominate everything.

Building a brand is the only possible and profitable thing you can leverage in the upcoming years. People prefer brands over SMBs overall. So, if you don't do brand marketing, it's going to be over for you. By branding, I don't mean you go out there and run advertisement on all the channels...what is meant by this is that you need to provide free and valuable content to the users so that they'll get to know you better and won't step back if you try to sell some sort of service or product.

3. Video is going to grow.

Video has already shown massive and impacting growth in the last two years. If you still don't create video content, it's time to take action. No one likes to read long chunks of paragraphs when everything is available on YouTube, Facebook Watch, IGTV, etc. VIdeos are also beneficial to create branding opportunities as they help businesses connect with users more deeply. This growth is just the trailer, the movie is still left. Hence, your takeaway is to produce more and more video content for the better.

4. Voice is coming.

With a significant growth noticed in podcasting and launching of devices like Google Hom, Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri, and more...voice is giving an intimation already. If you don't start podcasting, it's not going to be efficient. The reason being is that we're just a decade or two away when people are going to make their financial decisions with these voice devices. I know that might seem a bit funny but that's the hard truth.

5. New social platforms are going to rise.

You've already seen platforms like TikTok and LinkedIn growing massively in their own sectors. In 2020, it's going to happen at scale. Whether you like it or not...but if you don't adjust your content strategy according to the new culture and social sites, it's done for. Thus, trying new platforms and taking advantage as an early bird will help a lot.

6. Ads will get more expensive.

With millions of new advertisers coming every year to run ads, I can say that ads are going to become more expensive which will force you to come up with alternative strategies to promote your brand or business for free. Or, you'll need to work on the creative you put on as ads so that you could have a better conversion rate at the lowest cost possible.

7. SEO will be images and voice.

You read that right! SEO in this world will be all about optimizing your content for voice searches and visual searches. If you don't do that, you'll find that people will be less likely to follow your content for not being so much engaging and straightforward.

8. Bing and Google both.

It's not all about Google now. Bing is also taking up with hundreds of millions of users on it. You also have to consider optimizing for Bing to get more traffic and build a better reputation. The reason is that Bing also powers 51 percent of Yahoo searches. So, if you optimize for it, you'll get the traffic both from Yahoo and Bing.

These were the 8 major changes that are going to happen in the industry of marketing in 2020. If you liked reading this article, please let me know and I'll write more short plus informative articles for you to know more about marketing in the future and also present.
