For a more permanent rescue,

  • Find the leak
  • Turn off the valve to prevent further access to water
  • Cut open the wall to access the pipe
  • Trim the damaged pipe section and 10-12 inches
  • Apply flux to all pipe ends 
  • Test fit the coupling 
  • Solder the top and bottom coupling, heat it and allow it to dry
  • Repair the wall if it can dry internally
