1. See stunning street art in Kakaako

Before a group of an internationally known group of artists bombed the neighborhood with colorful graffiti a few years back, the hipster district of Kakaako was once known for its rundown warehouses. With cutting-edge street art, amazing food, entertainment, and shopping, the area is a must-see now! They have this wonderful street art festival called Pow Wow where artists from all around the world hit the streets of Honolulu for a week long event to paint new murals over the older ones. You can take a walk through the area and stay for coffee at chic Arvo, or go for cocktails at the posh Bevy.

2. Observe the sea turtles at Laniakea Beach

Your trip to the north shore of Oahu will be incomplete without seeing the sea turtles at Laniakea beach. The turtles swim close to the shore munching on the seaweed in the morning and bask on the sand in the afternoon. If you choose to swim at the beach, make sure to not interact with the turtles, as they are the endangered species and are protected under federal law.

3. Hike with monk seals at the edge of Oahu

For an amazing Hawaiian adventure, go hiking to the westernmost tip of Oahu- Kaena Point. It is a protected nature reserve and can be reached only by foot. You will get so many amazing things to see on your ways like Laysan Albatross and a sunbathing monk seal on the beach inside the sanctuary. Do not forget to bring your water and wear proper clothing and shoes. The parking lots on both the ends of the hike are plagued with car break-ins over the years so make sure to leave your valuables at home!

All three things described above are totally free of cost and will give you the experience and adventure of a lifetime. You can also enjoy a troupe of hula dancers performing a show on Kuhio beach at sunset. Make your stay more comfortable by booking a youth hostel in Waikiki.
